• Use with caution when administering with other CNS depressants. Reduce dosage of CNS depressants
• Caution should be exercised while driving a car or operating dangerous machinery because drowsiness may occur with use of the drug
• Patients should be advised against the simultaneous use of other CNS depressant drugs, and cautioned that the effect of alcohol may be increased
• Start therapy with small dosage to avoid hepatic, renal or cardiac dysfunction
• Use with caution in elderly patients as they are more likely to have decreased renal function, care should be taken in dose selections

Breastfeeding: Safety unknown. Small occasional doses of hydroxyzine would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants.
