- Severe hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, may occur with this drug. Closely monitor patients for hypersensitivity reactions. IV therapy using epinephrine, corticosteroids, and diphenhydramine hydrochloride is recommended during the product infusion. Terminate administration at once and institute appropriate emergency medical care if an anaphylactic reaction occurs during infusion. Anaphylactic reactions may occur more commonly in patients with known allergies to horse protein. Severe hypersensitivity reactions may occur especially in patients who have had previous therapy with this drug or another equine antivenom/antitoxin
- During follow-up visits, monitor patients for signs and symptoms of delayed allergic reactions or serum sickness (e.g., rash, fever, myalgia, arthralgia), and treat appropriately if required
- Risk of transmitting infectious agents such as viruses exists
- Localized reactions and generalized myalgias may occur with the use of cresol as an injectable excipient

- Advise patients to promptly contact their physician or emergency department if they experience any signs and symptoms of delayed allergic reactions or serum sickness up to 2 weeks following hospital discharge
