Adult Dosing
Prevention of nausea/vomiting associated with chemotherapy
- 1.8 mg/kg IV 30 min prior to chemotherapy given as a single dose
- Max: 100 mg/dose
Prevention of post-operative nausea/vomiting
- 12.5 mg IV 15 min before end of anesthesia
Treatment of post-operative nausea/vomiting
- 12.5 mg IV at the onset of nausea/vomiting
Pediatric Dosing
Prevention of nausea/vomiting associated with chemotherapy
- 2-16 yrs: 1.8 mg/kg IV 30 min prior to chemotherapy given as a single dose
- Max: 100 mg/dose

- 2-16 yrs: 0.35 mg/kg IV 15 min before end of anesthesia
- Max: 12.5 mg/dose

- Therapy is associated with changes in ECG interval (PR, QTc, JT prolongation and QRS widening). Cardiovascular consequences, including heart block or cardiac arrhythmias have occurred on prolongation of intervals
- Possibility of cardiac conduction abnormality exists
- Rare occassions of sustained supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, cardiac arrest leading to death, and myocardial infarction has occurred in children and adolescents
- Possibility of development for cross hypersensitivity reactions in patients receiving other selective 5HT3 receptor antagonist exists
- Monitor K, Mg at baseline, then if essential after administration of this drug; Determine ECG and blood pressure if bradycardia, CHF
Cautions: Use cautiously in
- Renal impairment
- Cardiac conduction defects
- QT prolongation
- Congenital QT syndrome
- QT prolonging agent use
- Electrolyte disturbances
- Hypokalemia
- Hypomagnesemia
- Concomitant administration of diuretics
- Cumulative high-dose anthracycline therapy
- Concomitant administration of antiarrhythmic drugs or other drugs leading to QT prolongation
- Pediatrics having risk for developing prolongation of cardiac conduction intervals particularly QTc
