• Optic neuritis, optic atrophy, and peripheral neuropathy have been reported with prolonged high dosage therapy with halogenated 8-hydroxyquinolines; avoid long-term use
• Use cautiously in patients with thyroid disorder, as protein-bound serum iodine levels may be increased during treatment with iodoquinol and thus interfere with certain thyroid function tests. Such effects may persist for 6 months after therapy discontinuation
• Discontinue therapy if hypersensitivity reactions occur
