Trauma Score for Survival Probability

The Trauma Score for Survival Probability is a scoring system that predicts % probability of survival from trauma. 5 items are factored into the total score. The individual scores from each of these 5 items are summed and a total score is calculated. The lower the score, the worse the prognosis.

  1. Respiratory rate
    • 10-24 (4 points)
    • 15-35 (3 points)
    • >35 (2 points)
    • <10 (1 point)
    • 0 (0 point)
  2. Respiratory effort
    • Normal (1 point)
    • Shallow or retractions (0 point)
  3. Systolic blood pressure (mmHg)
    • >90 (4 points)
    • 70-90 (3 points)
    • 50-69 (2 points)
    • <50 (1 point)
    • No carotid pulse (0 point)
  4. Capillary refill
    • Normal (<2 seconds) (2 points)
    • Delayed (>2 seconds) (1 point)
    • No capillary refill (0 point)
  5. Glasgow coma scale score
    • 14-15 (5 points)
    • 11-13 (4 points)
    • 8-10 (3 points)
    • 5-7 (2 points)
    • 3-4 (1 point)
