MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)
Description: Red, swollen, painful abscess filled with pus
Etiology: Staph bacteria that most commonly affect people in the hospital, after sx, in long-term care, or on dialysis. Can also occur in athletes who share equipt, towels, razors
Rx: Drain abscess & identify an appropriate antibiotic (Vancocin, Bactrim, Septra)
