Complications of this procedure are associated with the type of anesthetic technique and its inherent complications and from the shock wave therapy used during the procedure. The most common problems from this procedure include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hemoptysis, and diarrhea. The post-anesthesia care for a patient recovering from biliary lithotripsy is the same as for the upper abdominal surgical patient (Schick & Windle, 2016).
