All patients should carry their identification card and wear a bracelet that identifies them as having a pacemaker and/or automated internal cardiac defibrillator (AICD). The ICD/pacing functions should be noted on their card and bracelet. Precautions are highly variable, but all pacemaker patients should not have an MRI and need to stay away from highly magnetized areas.
