Medications are not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for administration via the intracoronary route but the same medications that are given for coronary vasospasm via the venous route may be directly injected into the coronary arteries during the PCI for severe vasospasms and to facilitate stenting. Nitroglycerine, adenosine, and nicardipine are three such medications that may be given in a dilute concentration. Continuous monitoring and patient response should be documented.
