Back - These patients are often critically ill and require ventilatory support and aggressive fluid resuscitation. Use of vasopressors may increase visceral ischemia . Maintain normothermia.
- Control arrhythmias and treat tachycardia.
- Maintain adequate blood pressure.
- Monitor fluids and electrolytes including lactate levels.
- Monitor for signs of compartment syndrome which may occur if the abdomen has been closed primarily.
- Deterioration of the patients condition may be due to multisystem failure as well as graft thrombosis.
