Leiomyomas (fibroid masses) may be removed by hysteroscopy. This is the operative method of choice for smaller masses when fertility preservation is desired or for treatment of AUB (Hoffman et al., 2012g). An open operative approach or possibly hysterectomy may be used to treat larger masses (Hoffman et al., 2012f). Bleeding is common during the myomectomy. Postoperative bleeding, spotting, or light bleeding may occur for 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure.
