For an adult, follow AHA guidelines: Give 0.5 to 1 mg of Atropine IV every 5 minutes. For asystole: 1 mg IV should be given every 5 minutes, with a maximum total dose of 3 mg or 0.04 mg/kg. The primary cardiologist should be informed of the event. Each institution should have a protocol for vasovagal response and should be used accordingly.
