Phlegmasia alba dolens is the less severe form of phlegmasia. The extremity is painful, edematous, and pale, but there is no neurovascular compromise or ischemia. In the past it was called “milk leg,” and was associated with the third trimester of pregnancy, caused by pressure of the gravid uterus on the iliac vein.
