The Whipple procedure is also known as radical pancreaticoduodenectomy. The Whipple procedure includes the removal of the head of the pancreas, the duodenum, a portion of the jejunum, the distal third of the stomach, the lower half of the common bile duct, and a portion of the pancreatic duct (Ignatavicius & Workman, 2015).
