Goals of Skyscape Clinical Consult®
The goal of Skyscape Clinical Consult® is to provide comprehensive overviews of medical topics to persons who have some medical training. SCC® is not an introductory text in medicine. SCC® incorporates large amounts of rapidly changing medical information into succinct, comprehensive, topic summaries. The search format and references are provided with the awareness that students, clinicians, researchers, allied health personnel, pharmaceutical and biotechnology experts, and consultants have little time to read many of the primary studies and review articles in medicine. SCC® is dedicated to integrating the new molecular medicine with the best evidence-based clinical practice currently available.
SCC® is updated every four months with information from more than six major medical journal publications (see list below). Information is also drawn from seminars, review articles, patient care, drug development conferences, and teaching experience.
The Skyscape Clinical Consult® medical database consists of over 850 separate succinct summaries of topics encountered in General Internal Medicine, Internal Medicine Subspecialties, Emergency Medicine and Family Practice. Topics in geriatrics, pediatrics, ophthalmology, gynecology, obstetrics, psychiatry, and neurology are also covered in some detail. The topics are organized into topic cards which are linked to each other, an Index and the Table of Contents through hyperlinks. Each topic card is directed to allowing a clinician to care with a patient with a specific disease or symptom. In addition, over 500 Internal Medicine Board's-type review questions (linked to appropriate text) have been added to aide in reviewing topics and in preparation for licensing examinations.
All of the sections are reviewed by editors who are subspecialists in their fields. The process of editing is continuously ongoing, but all sections have been reviewed and edited at least once. A list of editors is found by clicking on the hyperlink below.
