No reports describing the use of abaloparatide in human pregnancy have been located. The drug will probably not cross the placenta. However, the absence of human pregnancy experience prevents a complete assessment of any embryofetal risk. Animal reproduction studies have not been performed. Nevertheless, the drug is not indicated for use in women with reproductive potential.
No reports describing the use of abaloparatide during human lactation have been located. The drug will probably not enter breast milk. In addition, because it is a peptide, if the drug were to be ingested through breastfeeding, it probably would be digested in the infants gastrointestinal tract and not be absorbed. Nevertheless, the drug is not indicated for use in women with reproductive potential.
