Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)

Mean arterial pressure (MAP) refers to the average arterial pressure generated during a one cardiac cycle. MAP is a useful tool in predicting the blood perfusion to vital organs. MAP <60 mmHg significantly increases the risk of organ ischemia.

Formula used:

  • MAP(Mean art press)= DBP+[1/3(SBP-DBP)]

Where, DBP is the diastolic blood pressure and SBP is systolic blood pressure
