Parkland Equation

The Parkland equation is used for burn patients to calculate the total fluid required during the first 24 hours after burn.

%BSA 2nd/3rd = % Body Surface Area with 2nd and 3rd degree burns.

Formula used:

  • Fluid required = (% body burned) × (body weight in kg) × 4mL
