For children, endotracheal tubes down to size 4.5 are available cuffed. Depending upon likelihood of need for increased pressures, a decision on whether to use a cuffed or uncuffed tube should be made. Note that cuffed tubes need to be selected as 0.5 mm smaller in diameter than the predicted size on this calculator for children.
