Revised Geneva Score - PE Prediction

The revised Geneva Score is a modified version of the original Geneva Score for clinical prediction of pulmonary embolism.

This tool asks 8 questions. The scoring for each question is given as follows

  1. Age >65 years
    • Yes = 1 point, No = 0 points
  2. Previous pulmonary embolism (PE) or deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
    • Yes = 3 points, No = 0 points
  3. Heart rate ...beats per min (bpm)
    • 75-94 = 3 points, >=95 = 5 points
  4. Surgery or fracture within 1 month
    • Yes = 2 points, No = 0 points
  5. Hemoptysis
    • Yes = 2 points, No = 0 points
  6. Active Cancer
    • Yes = 2 points, No = 0 points
  7. Unilateral Limb Pain
    • Yes = 3 points, No = 0 points
  8. Pain on lower limb palpation and unilateral edema
    • Yes = 4 points, No = 0 points

The score is the sum of all points from these 8 questions.

A score of 0 to 3 indicates Low pre-test probability, score of 4 to 10 indicates Intermediate-probability, and a score of >=11 indicates High-probability
