Formula used:

BMI = Weight / Height^2

  • Weight = Body weight in kg
  • Height = Height in M

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a method of looking at appropriateness of body weight to height. The World Health Organization and Centers for Disease Control have come out with the following definitions:

Children:

  • Underweight >= less than the 5th percentile
  • Healthy Weight >=5th percentile up to the 85th percentile
  • Overweight >=85th to less than the 95th percentile
  • Obese >= equal to or greater than the 95th percentile
