Total Lung Capacity (TLC)

Total lung capacity (TLC) is the maximum volume of gas contained in the lungs after the maximal or forced inhalation

TLC is used to determine the normal function of the lung or the diseases state

Formula used:

TLC = ERV + IRV + RV + TV

TLC = Total lung capacity

ERV = Expiratory reserve volume

IRV = Inspiratory reserve volume

RV = Residual volume

TV = Tidal volume
