These criteria are that of the International Headache Society, published in 1988.

Cluster Headache Criteria

1. At least 5 headaches that are severe, unilateral orbital, supraorbital and/or temporal, each lasting 15-180 minutes untreated, with 1 or more of the following occurring on the same side as the pain:

  • Conjunctival injection
  • Lacrimation
  • Nasal congestion
  • Rhinorrhea
  • Forehead and facial sweating
  • Miosis
  • Ptosis
  • Eyelid edema

2. During a cluster, frequency of attacks between 1 every other day to 8/day
