Michael Cabana MD, MPH is a Professor of Pediatrics & the Michael I. Cohen University Chair of Pediatrics. Dr. Cabana’s research focuses on understanding and improving physician diagnosis, prevention and management of common childhood conditions, particularly pediatric asthma. Dr. Cabana is Principal Investigator for the Trial of Infant Probiotic Supplementation (TIPS) to Prevent Early Markers of Asthma, as well as clinical trials focused on infant growth and colic. In addition, Dr. Cabana is the Principal Investigator for the IMPLEMENT Pediatric Quality Measures Center that is developing and testing new quality measures for childhood chronic conditions. He has experience in practice-based research and has collaborated with over 120 pediatric practices in several national randomized controlled trials focused on primary care management of asthma. Dr. Cabana has served on study sections for the Agency for Healthcare Reseach & Quality, the National Institutes of Health and advisory groups for the National Committee on Quality Assurance. His work has been funded by the National Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Disorders, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He is editor of the Five Minute Pediatric Consult. He is currently serving a four-year term as a member of the United States Preventive Services Task Force.
