Anakinra is available in prefilled glass syringes containing 100 mg of drug in 0.67 mL of solution.2859 The prefilled syringes have 27-gauge needles protected with latex rubber covers.2859 Each syringe containing 0.67 mL of solution also contains anhydrous citric acid 1.29 mg, sodium chloride 5.48 mg, disodium EDTA 0.12 mg, and 0.7 mg of polysorbate 80 in water for injection.2859

Stability

Anakinra should be stored under refrigeration.2859 Do not shake; protect from freezing and light. The injection contains no preservative and is for single use.2859 Discard any unused portions.2859

Visually inspect the syringes prior to use.2859 The solution may contain trace amounts of small, translucent to white, amorphous protein particles.2859 If the number of these particles appears excessive or the solution is discolored, cloudy, or particulate matter is present, the syringe should be discarded.2859
