Products

Eribulin mesylate is available as a 0.5-mg/mL solution in 2-mL single-use vials containing a total of eribulin mesylate 1 mg (equivalent to eribulin 0.88 mg), dehydrated alcohol 5% (v/v), and water for injection 95% (v/v).3027; 3028 Sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid may have been added during manufacturing to adjust the pH.2805; 3028

pH

From 6.5 to 8.5.2805

Trade Name(s)

Halaven

Administration

Eribulin mesylate is administered intravenously over 2 to 5 minutes.3027 The drug may be administered undiluted or diluted in 100 mL of sodium chloride 0.9%.3027

Eribulin mesylate should not be diluted in dextrose-containing solutions nor administered through an intravenous line that is infusing dextrose-containing solutions.3027

Stability

Intact vials should be stored at controlled room temperature in the original carton; vials should not be refrigerated nor frozen.3027 Eribulin mesylate is a clear, colorless solution.3027

The manufacturer states that undiluted eribulin mesylate may be stored in a syringe for up to 4 hours at room temperature or up to 24 hours at 4°C.3027 Similarly, diluted solutions of eribulin mesylate may be stored for up to 4 hours at room temperature or 24 hours under refrigeration.3027 Unused portions remaining in the vials should be discarded.3027

Stability of the undiluted product (Eisai) was tested in the original glass vial with light protection at 25°C and at 2 to 8°C.3028 The solution was found to be physically compatible and chemically stable with little to no loss in 28 days.3028

pH Effects

Eribulin mesylate stability is pH dependent.3028 The drug has been noted to be stable over a pH range of 5 to 9.3028 Mixing eribulin mesylate with dextrose-containing solutions is not recommended given the acid sensitivity of the drug.3027; 3028

Syringes

Eribulin mesylate (Eisai) 205 mcg/mL in sodium chloride 0.9% packaged in 10-mL polypropylene syringes (Becton Dickinson) was physically compatible and chemically stable with little to no loss in 28 days stored with light protection at 25 and 2 to 8°C.3028
