Propranolol hydrochloride is available as a 1-mg/mL injection solution in 1-mL single-dose vials containing propranolol hydrochloride 1 mg in water for injection with citric acid to adjust the pH.¹¹⁴³

The osmolality of propranolol hydrochloride 1 mg/mL was determined to be 12 mOsm/kg.¹²³³

Propranolol hydrochloride is administered by intravenous injection at a rate not exceeding 1 mg/min.¹¹⁴³

Intact vials should be stored at controlled room temperature and protected from freezing or excessive heat.¹¹⁴³

Sorption

Propranolol hydrochloride was shown not to exhibit sorption to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) bags and tubing, polyolefin containers, polyethylene tubing, Silastic tubing, and polypropylene syringes.⁵³⁶; ⁶⁰⁶; ⁷⁴⁶
