Generic Name

• Ibutilide Fumarate

Ibutilide fumarate is available in single-use 10-mL vials containing 1 mg of the drug.³¹⁹³ Each mL of solution contains 0.1 mg of ibutilide fumarate and also contains sodium acetate trihydrate 0.189 mg, sodium chloride 8.9 mg, and sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH in water for injection.³¹⁹³

Equivalency

Ibutilide fumarate 0.1 mg is equivalent to 0.087 mg of ibutilide as the free base.³¹⁹³

pH

The pH of the 0.1-mg/mL solution has been adjusted to approximately 4.6.³¹⁹³

Tonicity

Ibutilide fumarate injection is isotonic.³¹⁹³

Corvert

Ibutilide fumarate is administered intravenously as an infusion over 10 minutes.³¹⁹³ The drug may be administered undiluted or diluted in 50 mL of dextrose 5% or sodium chloride 0.9%.³¹⁹³

Ibutilide fumarate injection is a clear, colorless solution.³¹⁹³ Intact vials should be stored at controlled room temperature and kept in the carton until use.³¹⁹³
