Generic Name

Products

Ibutilide fumarate is available in single-use 10-mL vials containing 1 mg of the drug.3193 Each mL of solution contains 0.1 mg of ibutilide fumarate and also contains sodium acetate trihydrate 0.189 mg, sodium chloride 8.9 mg, and sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH in water for injection.3193

Equivalency

Ibutilide fumarate 0.1 mg is equivalent to 0.087 mg of ibutilide as the free base.3193

pH

The pH of the 0.1-mg/mL solution has been adjusted to approximately 4.6.3193

Tonicity

Ibutilide fumarate injection is isotonic.3193

Administration

Ibutilide fumarate is administered intravenously as an infusion over 10 minutes.3193 The drug may be administered undiluted or diluted in 50 mL of dextrose 5% or sodium chloride 0.9%.3193

Stability

Ibutilide fumarate injection is a clear, colorless solution.3193 Intact vials should be stored at controlled room temperature and kept in the carton until use.3193
