Products

Lacosamide is available as a 10-mg/mL solution in 20-mL single-use vials.3201 Each vial also contains sodium chloride, water for injection, and hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH.3201 Solutions containing particulate matter or those in which discoloration has occurred should not be used.3201 Any unused portion should be discarded.3201

Administration

Lacosamide is administered intravenously as an infusion either undiluted or diluted in a compatible infusion solution over a period of 15 to 60 minutes.3201 (See Solution Compatibility.) The manufacturer states that a 30- to 60-minute infusion is preferred when a 15-minute administration is not required.3201

Stability

Lacosamide is a clear, colorless solution.3201 Intact vials should be stored at controlled room temperature and protected from freezing.3201

Lacosamide diluted for infusion in a compatible infusion solution should not be stored for more than 4 hours at room temperature.3201
