Generic Name

• Torsemide

Torsemide is available in 2- and 5-mL single-use vials.³⁰¹⁰ Each mL of solution contains torsemide 10 mg along with polyethylene glycol 400, tromethamine, water for injection, and sodium hydroxide if needed to adjust the pH during manufacture.³⁰¹⁰

Torsemide is administered intravenously either slowly as a bolus over 2 minutes or as a continuous infusion.³⁰¹⁰ If a common intravenous line is being used to administer other drugs in addition to torsemide, the line should be flushed with sodium chloride 0.9% prior to and following administration of torsemide.³⁰¹⁰

Intact vials of torsemide should be stored at controlled room temperature and protected from freezing.³⁰¹⁰

Torsemide injection solution should be visually inspected for discoloration and particulate matter prior to infusion; if either is present, the solution should not be used.³⁰¹⁰
