Papaverine hydrochloride may be administered by intramuscular injection or slow intravenous injection.3829; 3830 Intravenous injection must be administered over 1 to 2 minutes to prevent uncomfortable or alarming adverse effects.3829; 3830
Intact vials of papaverine hydrochloride injection should be stored at controlled room temperature and retained in the original carton to protect from light.3829; 3830 Papaverine hydrochloride injection is a clear, colorless to pale yellow solution.3829; 3830 The yellow discoloration of papaverine hydrochloride injection does not appear to be related to drug decomposition. Analysis of a yellow injection found nearly 100% of the drug. Furthermore, yellow discoloration is not produced by intentional degradation from boiling with acid or base.1996
