Generic Name

• Conivaptan Hydrochloride (CAS Registry Number: 168626-94-6)

Conivaptan hydrochloride is available as a single-use ready-to-use solution of 20 mg conivaptan hydrochloride in 100 mL dextrose 5% in a flexible plastic container.²⁸³⁸ The solution also contains lactic acid for pH adjustment.²⁸³⁸

The pH is adjusted to the range of 3.4 to 3.8.²⁸³⁸

Conivaptan hydrochloride in dextrose ready-to-use solution is administered only by intravenous infusion.²⁸³⁸ No further dilution is required.²⁸³⁸ A loading dose of conivaptan hydrochloride is administered over 30 minutes, followed by a continuous infusion.²⁸³⁸ The drug should be administered through large veins with the infusion site changed every 24 hours to minimize the risk of vascular irritation.²⁸³⁸

Conivaptan hydrochloride ready-to-use solution should be stored at 25°C and protected from light, freezing, and excessive heat; however, brief exposure to temperatures up to 40°C does not adversely affect the product.²⁸³⁸ The plastic container should remain in its foil overwrap until ready for use.²⁸³⁸
