Products

Conivaptan hydrochloride is available as a single-use ready-to-use solution of 20 mg conivaptan hydrochloride in 100 mL dextrose 5% in a flexible plastic container.2838 The solution also contains lactic acid for pH adjustment.2838

Administration

Conivaptan hydrochloride in dextrose ready-to-use solution is administered only by intravenous infusion.2838 No further dilution is required.2838 A loading dose of conivaptan hydrochloride is administered over 30 minutes, followed by a continuous infusion.2838 The drug should be administered through large veins with the infusion site changed every 24 hours to minimize the risk of vascular irritation.2838

Stability

Conivaptan hydrochloride ready-to-use solution should be stored at 25°C and protected from light, freezing, and excessive heat; however, brief exposure to temperatures up to 40°C does not adversely affect the product.2838 The plastic container should remain in its foil overwrap until ready for use.2838
