Ketorolac tromethamine is available as a 15-mg/mL or a 30-mg/mL injection solution in 1-mL single-dose vials.2005 Ketorolac tromethamine 30 mg/mL is also available in 2-mL single-dose vials for intramuscular use.2005 Each mL contains ketorolac tromethamine 15 or 30 mg along with alcohol 10% (w/v) and sodium chloride in water; the pH is adjusted with sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid.2005
pH
6.9 to 7.9.2005
Ketorolac tromethamine is administered slowly by deep intramuscular injection or by intravenous injection over no less than 15 seconds.2005 The 60 mg/2 mL injection is for intramuscular use only.2005
Intrathecal or epidural administration is contraindicated due to the alcohol content in the formulation.2005
Intact containers of ketorolac tromethamine injection should be stored at controlled room temperature in the original carton and protected from light.2005 The solution is clear and has a slight yellow color.2005 Prolonged exposure to light may result in discoloration of the solution and precipitation.4 Ketorolac tromethamine is chemically stable over a wide pH range from about pH 3 to 11,499 but precipitation may occur in solutions and with drugs having a relatively low pH.4
