Streptomycin sulfate is available as a lyophilized powder or cake in vials containing the equivalent of streptomycin 1 g.2675 Reconstitute each vial with 4.2, 3.2, or 1.8 mL of sterile water for injection to yield solutions containing approximately 200, 250, or 400 mg/mL, respectively.2675

Streptomycin sulfate is administered by intramuscular injection.2675 Injections should be made well within the body of a relatively large muscle; the recommended site of injection is the upper outer quadrant of the buttock or the midlateral thigh in adults or the midlateral thigh in children.2675 Injection sites should be alternated.2675 Intravenous injection is not recommended,4 although it has been performed.1603
