Tirofiban hydrochloride is available as a 50-mcg/mL premixed, ready-to-use, preservative-free solution in 100- and 250-mL flexible plastic containers and 100-mL vials.1909 Each 100 or 250 mL of solution contains the equivalent of 5 or 12.5 mg, respectively, of tirofiban as the hydrochloride monohydrate; each mL also contains sodium chloride 9 mg, sodium citrate dihydrate 0.54 mg, citric acid anhydrous 0.032 mg, and sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid to adjust pH in water for injection.1909
Tirofiban hydrochloride is also available as a 250-mcg/mL premixed, ready-to-use, preservative-free solution in 15-mL vials for bolus doses.1909 Each 15-mL vial contains the equivalent of 3.75 mg of tirofiban with sodium chloride 120 mg, sodium citrate dihydrate 40.5 mg, and citric acid anhydrous 2.4 mg in water for injection, with sodium hydroxide and/or hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.1909
Equivalency

Tirofiban hydrochloride is administered by intravenous bolus injection over no more than 5 minutes followed by continuous intravenous infusion at a rate of 0.15 mcg/kg/min.1909 Either concentration of solution (50- or 250-mcg/mL) may be used for the bolus dose; however, patients weighing 167 kg or more should receive the 250-mcg/mL solution to ensure administration of the bolus dose does not exceed 5 minutes.1909 Both concentrations of solutions are ready to use and do not require dilution.1909
Tirofiban hydrochloride ready-to-use solutions are clear and colorless.1909 Intact containers should be stored at controlled room temperature and protected from light.1909 Do not freeze.1909
