ATG (Equine) Lymphocyte Immune Globulin, Antithymocyte Globulin (Equine)Antithymocyte globulin (equine) is available as a 50-mg/mL concentrate for injection in 5-mL ampuls.4029 Each mL of solution contains equine thymocyte immune globulin 50 mg stabilized in 0.3 molar glycine.4029
The concentrate for injection should be diluted in an inverted bottle or bag of a compatible infusion to a concentration not exceeding 4 mg/mL.4029 The bottle or bag should be inverted during dilution so the concentrate does not come into contact with the air inside.4029 Gently rotate or swirl the diluted solution to mix.4029
pH
Approximately 6.8.4029
Trade Name(s)
Atgam
Antithymocyte globulin (equine) is administered by intravenous infusion into a vascular shunt, arterial venous fistula, or a high-flow central vein dilution in a compatible infusion solution.4029 The diluted solution should be at room temperature and should be administered through a 0.2- to 1-µm inline filter over a minimum of 4 hours.4029
Antithymocyte globulin (equine) is a transparent to slightly opalescent, colorless to faintly pink or faintly brown solution.4029 The solution may contain a slight granular or flaky deposit which the manufacturer states is normal.4029
Intact vials should be stored at 2 to 8°C in the original carton to protect from light.4029 Do not freeze.4029 Do not shake the concentrate or diluted solutions because excessive foaming and/or denaturation of the protein may occur.4029
Diluted solutions for infusion may be stored at room temperature and must be infused within 24 hours (including infusion time).4029
pH Effects
The manufacturer states diluting the concentrate in highly acidic solutions may contribute to physical instability over time.4029
Filtration
Diluted solutions for infusion should be administered through a 0.2- to 1-µm inline filter.4029
