Information

  1. Inhibitors of angiotensin-converting enzyme (captopril, enalapril, lisinopril) prevent the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. These drugs are effective in the treatment of congestive heart failure and essential hypertension as well as renovascular and malignant hypertension.
  2. Side effects are minor, with the principal cardiovascular effect being decreasing systemic vascular resistance.
