Variant: Fordyce spots

Enlarged ectopic sebaceous gland s in the mucosa of the mouth or on the genitals.

Symptoms and Signs: The spots appear as small (1 to 2 mm) papules on the buccal mucosa, at the border of the lips, on the shaft of the penis or on the labia.

Diagnosis: The clustered papules are usually white to yellow in appearance.

Treatment: No special treatment is required.

Impact on Health: The prognosis is excellent: the spots are normal and are solely of cosmetic concern.

Patient Care: Patients should be reassured that the spots are benign (not cancerous) and cause no damage to their health.
