Wallenberg syndrome

A syndrome resulting from occlusion of the posteroinferior cerebellar artery or one of its branches supplying the lower portion of the brainstem. Dysphagia, muscular weakness or paralysis, impairment of pain and temperature senses, and cerebellar dysfunction are characteristic. SYN: lateral medullary infarct; lateral medullary syndrome.
