foreign body
Anything present at a site where it would not normally be found. Slivers, cinders, dirt, or small objects may lodge in the skin, ears, eyes, or nose or may be taken internally. If not removed, they may cause unsightly marks or tattooing of the skin and inflammation and infection of the tissue involved.
