body section r.Tomography.

computed r.

ABBR: CR

The capturing of a radiographic image on a solid-state imaging device (instead of on radiographic film). A photostimulable phosphor imaging plate recovers the image, which is subsequently enhanced with a digital computer and displayed on a monitor.

direct r.

ABBR: DR

The conversion of x-ray energy received from an imaged body part into digital format using semiconductors, without first collecting images on an image plate or as light.
