A prominence, bump, bulge, or projection, esp. of a bone.
arcuate e.A rounded eminence on the superior surface of the petrous portion of the temporal bone.

articular e. of the mand ibular fossa A rounded eminence forming the anterior boundary of the mand ibular fossa.
auditory e.An eminence of gray matter on the floor of the fourth ventricle of the brain.
bicipital e.A tuberosity of the radius for the distal attachment of the biceps brachii on the radius. SYN: radial tuberosity.
blastodermic e.An eminence of cells of a developing ovum forming the blastoderm.
canine e.A vertical eminence on the external surface of the maxilla, caused by the alveolar process of the canine tooth.
collateral e.An eminence between the middle and posterior horns in the lateral ventricle of the brain.

frontal e.A gently rounded eminence on either side of the median line and a little below the center of the frontal bone.
germinal e.The eminence of follicle cells that surrounds the ovum. SYN: cumulus oophorus.
iliopectineal e.An eminence on the upper aspect of the pubic bone above the acetabulum, marking the junction of the bone with the ilium.
intercondyloid e.An eminence on the head of the tibia lying between the two condyles.
median e.The anterior bodies of the medulla oblongata separated by the anterior median fissure.
nasal e.An eminence on the vertical portion of the frontal bone above the nasal notch and between the two superciliary ridges.
occipital e.An eminence on the occipital bone.
olivary e.An oval eminence at the upper part of the medulla oblongata above the extremity of the lateral column. SYN: oliva; olivary body.
parietal e.A marked eminence on the outer surface of the parietal bone.
portal e.One of the small median eminences on the inferior surface of the liver.
pyramidal e.An eminence on the mastoid wall of the tympanic cavity. It contains a cavity through which the stapedius muscle passes. SYN: pyramid of the tympanum.
thenar e.An eminence formed by muscles on the palm proximal to (below) the thumb. SYN: ball of the thumb.
