ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

The measurement with a portable blood pressure monitor of blood pressure of outpatients. It is used to record the patient's diastolic and systolic pressures during activity and rest throughout the day.

Patient Care: The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends that ABPM be used as the reference stand ard for confirming the diagnosis of high blood pressure. It has been shown to correlate with the risk of stroke and other adverse cardiovascular outcomes.
