human h. 6 A herpesvirus that causes sixth disease and childhood febrile seizures. It causes infections in immunocompromised patients, e.g., patients who have received organ transplants and patients with HIV infection. Among children, infants between 6 months and 2 years of age are at highest risk for this infection, and asymptomatic or unrecognized infection is probably common. The incubation period is about 5 to 15 days.
