- The center of a structure.
- A cylindrical tissue specimen.
- The center of a lesion as seen on radiologic imaging, i.e., a part of the lesion that appears to be irreversibly damaged.
- The portion of a tooth that is visible above the gum line. The core of a tooth does not include its root.
- Core muscle.
infarct c.Tissue so thoroughly deprived of blood flow (as in a stroke or myocardial infarction) that it will not survive despite reperfusion.

ischemic c.The infarct core plus the tissue immediately surrounding the core that may also be damaged if blood flow is not restored quickly.
