fall and injury prevention

Any of the techniques, such as exercise and balance training, the use of bed alarms, warnings posted at the bedside, and video surveillance, that reduce the incidence and severity of falls in health care facilities. Falls occur most often in older or infirm patients, in people undergoing rehabilitation from injury or surgery, and in patients with altered mental status or neuromuscular diseases.

Patient Care: The American Geriatrics Society recommends vitamin D supplements of up to 30 ng/mL to help prevent falls.
