seborrhea

A disease of the sebaceous gland s marked by an increase in the amount, and often an alteration of the quality, of the fats secreted by the sebaceous gland s.

Treatment: Mild dand ruff, a type of seborrhea, may be treated with a shampoo containing selenium sulfide or sulfur. Severe seborrhea is treated with a lotion or cream containing corticosteroids, rubbed into the affected areas two or three times a day.

s. capitis Seborrhea of the scalp.

s. corporis Dermatitis seborrheica.

s. faciei Seborrhea of the face.

s. furfuracea Dermatitis seborrheica.

s. nigricans Seborrhea with pigmented crusts.
