Early Intervention in Anorexia Nervosa

There is no evidence from controlled trials to assess whether early intervention is beneficial in anorexia nervosa. Level of evidence: "D"

A systematic review 1 including 6 case studies with a total of 294 female and 17 male subjects was abstracted in DARE. In four of the six studies the duration of illness was not related to the treatment outcome. In the two remaining studies a negative relationship between duration of illness and the outcome of treatment was reported.
