Widespread Eczema on the Upper Trunk

Widespread eczema on the upper trunk. Any eczema may flare up and become widespread. The cycle of itching and scratching and a secondary infection promote the spread of the rash. The recommended treatment includes a first-generation oral cephalosporin, a short course of an oral steroid, and for local treatment a topical corticosteroid of moderate potency and a basic cream. Sufficient fluid intake should be ensured, and hospitalisation should be considered for a patient who is shivery and feverish. A more accurate diagnosis may become apparent from the patient's history, or it may later become evident in a follow-up.
