Insectiside Treated Nets for Preventing Malaria

Insectiside-treated nets (ITN) are effective in reducing mortality and morbidity from malaria. Level of evidence: "A"

Twenty-three studies were included in a Cochrane review [Abstract] 1.

In a comparison of ITN versus no nets, child mortality from all causes was reduced by 17% compared to no nets (rate ratio 0.83, 95% CI 0.77 to 0.89; 5 trials, 200 833 participants)

In a comparison of ITN versus untreated nets child mortality from all causes was reduced by a third compared to untreated nets (rate ratio 0.67, 95% CI 0.36 to 1.23; 2 trials, 25 389 participants).
